Hi, this is Whitney. You're listening to Exploring Peace Meditations. I invite you to find a comfortable posture. This could be seated in a chair, or on the floor, or against the wall. You might choose to recline. However you choose to pray and meditate today, make sure you have space to breathe. Begin to notice your breath. I want you to imagine that your breath travels up your spine, from the tailbone to the top of your head, and, as you exhale, imagine your breath traveling from the top of your head down to the bottom of your spine, down to the bottom of your spine. See your breath. Maybe you see light. Maybe you imagine your life force, your energy, god's spirit. But with each breath, for the next several moments, inhale, let the breath travel from your tailbone to the top of your head. Exhale, let that breath travel from the top of your head to the base of your spine as you breathe. Listen In the Gospel of Matthew 5, verse 14, jesus says to his disciples you are the light of the world.
Speaker 1A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. You are the light of the world. Imagine Jesus speaking these words to you today. You are the. What does it mean to be God's light? How do you shine God's love and presence in all that you do, in each breath that you take. Allow your breath to be steady and gentle, flowing up and down your spine, seeing that light, god's light, moving within you with each breath you breathe. Now picture yourself standing on a hill, surrounded by darkness, but within you shines a bright, radiant light. It's the light of Christ dwelling within you as close as your breath. See yourself, see God's light in you. In these next several moments of quiet, feel the light growing stronger with each breath you take, illuminating the darkness that surrounds you.
Speaker 1The Thank you Continue breathing and notice how it feels in your body to connect with God's light, Consciously, purposefully, right now, using your breath and your imagination. How might you embody this light of Christ in your everyday life, Beyond this time of quiet? How might you shine with God's love, compassion and kindness? God, thank you for the light. Thank you for the light of Christ that dwells within us. Help us be that light in this world. Continue filling us with your light and love and compassion so that we can be your light in this world. In your holy name we pray Amen. When you're ready to return to your day, carry this light. Turn to your day. Carry this light. Thank you for exploring the gift of God's peace with me.
