Hi, this is Whitney. You're listening to Exploring Peace Meditations. Today we'll pause with the practice of loving kindness. If you've been here for long, you've practiced loving kindness with me before. If this practice is new to you, I invite you to really be kind to yourself today. Notice what bubbles up as you pray, as you meditate, as you listen. Be kind, settle into a comfortable posture, either seated upright, with your back supported, or lying down. Maybe you take a posture, a yoga posture, shape that feels right to you. Today. However, you find yourself gently, close your eyes and begin to deepen your breath.
Speaker 1Creator, god, we come before you today with open hearts, seeking your care, compassion and love. Help us, as we pause now, to embrace kindness in all aspects of our lives, reflecting your love to those around us. Fill us with your peace as we pray and meditate. Ephesians 4.32 says Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. Pause for a moment and ponder the kindness and compassion that God shows you every day. A simple sunrise, the next breath you take, caring relationships, answers to prayers All of these remind us of God's kindness and compassion for us. As I prompt these next words, I invite you to repeat them after me, offering yourself loving kindness. May I be kind to myself, may I be filled with peace. May I be free from suffering. May I be happy. In the next few moments of quiet, allow these words to flow over you. Embrace the same kindness and compassion for yourself that God longs to offer you today.
Speaker 2Thank you.
Speaker 1Next, I invite you to bring to mind someone that you care about deeply a loved one, a companion, a very close friend, a family member. Visualize that person's face now. Extend your loving kindness to them as you repeat these words. May you be free from suffering. May you be happy In the next few moments of quiet. Picture your loved one's face no-transcript.
Speaker 1Thank you you Now bring to mind someone that you encounter in your daily life, but maybe you don't know very well. This could be a co-worker, a neighbor or someone you see regularly in the community. Bring their face to mind and now extend your loving kindness to them. Repeat these words, silently or aloud May you be kind to yourself, may you be filled with peace, may you be free from suffering. May you be happy in the next few moments. Envision them experiencing the joy and love of God's kindness, peace and presence. Presence.
Speaker 2Thank you.
Speaker 1Be kind to yourself. As you embrace this next prompt, bring to mind someone with whom you have a challenging relationship. It might be difficult or hard, but see their face now and try to extend your loving kindness to them in this moment. Repeat these words May you be kind to yourself, may you be filled with peace, may you be free from suffering, may you be happy. Pause for a moment, holding space for loving-kindness with this difficult relationship or person. Allow God to be present with you now as you breathe you. Next, I invite you to extend your loving kindness to all beings everywhere. Envision this entire world wrapped in God's loving embrace as you repeat these phrases. May all beings be kind to themselves. May all beings be filled with peace. May all beings be free from suffering. May all beings be happy. Pause for a moment to invite a sense of universal love and compassion flowing from your heart into God's world.
Speaker 1Loving God, we thank you for this time of reflection and prayer. Loving God, we thank you for this time of reflection and prayer. Help us carry the spirit of kindness that you offer into our daily lives, reflecting your love to those we meet. Help us be kind to ourselves and to others. Strengthen us to be compassionate, caring and forgiving in a world that truly needs it. May your peace fill our hearts and our minds. Thank you, god, for this time. In your holy name we pray Amen.
