Hi, I'm Whitney and you're listening to Exploring Peace Meditations. Today's practice is one of my favorite evening prayer practices, but it can be practiced anytime. This is the Prayer of Examen, an ancient opportunity to notice God, to notice God in your life, in your day. So take a moment and get settled in. If you're a journaler, you may enjoy jotting down or writing as you reflect, so feel free to bring in pencil and paper into this meditation if you wish. Otherwise, find a posture in which you can relax, reflect and breathe. Bring to mind your last 24 hours this past day, with a grateful heart and the reminder that you were alive, breathing and present in your day. Recall the highs and the lows, all of the moments that come to mind. Give yourself just a few more moments to think about this past day Now. Bring to mind a moment in which you may have felt close to God, in line or in tune with your purpose or calling fulfilled in the flow, passionate. Is there a moment in which you felt close to God? We often call this consolation in the practice of the prayer of examine, and so just notice for the next few moments. What was the high point in your day? Was God present with you. Did you notice it then? Do you notice it now?
Speaker 1:Now bring to mind a point of your day in which you felt far away from God, frustrated, overwhelmed, burnout, disconnected, out of sync. This is often called desolation. In this prayer time, take a moment to notice, when you felt far away from God, the End With this heart of gratitude that we began our prayer time with. I invite you to ask God to help you notice anything else, anything you might need to hand over, release, let go of from the next 24 hours. What do we need in the day ahead? How might God renew you from this past day?
Speaker 1:Most holy and loving God, thank you. Thank you for presence in our lives. Thank you for helping us notice your presence. Give us clarity and wisdom as we reflect on this journey with you and renew us as we enter into this next new day. Be with us, guide us, show us the way, take a full breath in and a long breath out. Thank you for exploring the gift of God's peace with me. I'd love to remind you that you can find more prayers and meditations at exploringpeacecom.
