Introduction to Meditation Practice
Speaker 1Hi, this is Whitney and you're listening to Exploring Peace Meditations. I invite you to find a seated posture in which you can take full, deep breaths. This might look like sitting in a chair, with both feet on the floor, sitting on a pillow on the earth, on your yoga mat, under a tree, with your spine tall in the car. Wherever you are, feel grounded in your seat, lift through the crown of your head, making your spine tall, and take a moment to just check in. Check in with your breath, check in with your spirit. Today's invitation is a breath prayer to help us trust in Christ. First, I invite you to listen to John, chapter 14, verses 1 through 4. This is in the Message Bible and it comes from page 29 of my new release. With God in Every Breath. Listen to these words Jesus said. Don't let this rattle you. You trust God, don't you Trust me? There is plenty of room for you in my Father's home. If that weren't so, would I have told you that I'm on my way to get a room ready for you? And if I'm on my way to get your room ready, I'll come back and get you so you can live where I live, and you already know the road I'm taking. Today's scripture reminds us that Jesus longs to be present with us and that the promise of eternal life is one to offer us hope and encouragement. But that doesn't mean it's always easy to trust.
Speaker 1Take a moment and inhale through your nose, expanding your belly as you breathe in. And inhale through your nose, expanding your belly as you breathe in. Repeat this a couple more times, sending the breath deep into the diaphragm. On the exhale, you'll notice the navel. Draw in toward the spine. Simply notice your breath and ponder when have you sensed? I invite you to inhale Creator, god. Repeat that just a few times. Complete, full, deep inhalations times. Complete, full, deep. Invite you to breathe out silently. Help me trust you, and then we'll put the two together inhale, creator, god, exhale. Help me trust you. Whatever you may be facing in your life today, in this Offer that to God, whatever may feel unknown or a little scary, ask God to help you because Jesus longs to walk with you in it.
Final Blessing and Resources
Speaker 1Today, in this moment, in this breath, inhale Creator, god, exhale. Help Me Trust you. Thank you, god, for a chance to pause, to center, to breathe in these very bodies. Help us trust your guidance on the road of life, when we cannot discern the next steps. Help us listen, let go and follow you. Creator God, help me trust you In your holy name. We pray Amen. Thank you for trusting me to journey with you on this path with God. If you'd like to connect beyond this time, you can find more at exploringpeacecom. Slash community.
