SPEAKER_00Hi, I'm Whitney and you're listening to Exploring Peace Meditations. For today's practice, we will welcome God's light and awaken our energy. So allow yourself to find a reclined, relaxed posture. I like to settle on my back, softening the eyes, releasing the entire body. Use props, maybe a blanket, maybe an eye covering. As you settle in, I'll remind you that you can find more meditations like this one at exploringpeace.com. My books, which this meditation is part of, with God in every breath, can be found at my website whitney rsimpson.com. All right, so by now hopefully you've settled in. Begin deepening your breath. Allow your full body to expand on the inhale. The belly, the chest, the whole body expands as you breathe in. As you breathe out, the body deflates, settles, and softens into the space beneath you. With your eyes softly closed, imagine a beautiful radiant light surrounding you. This light represents God's presence and boundless love for you. With each breath you take, allow the light to grow brighter, more vibrant, like a bright golden sun falling upon you now. Rest beneath the golden sun, the radiant light. See it in your mind's eye pouring upon you. Let the light get brighter and brighter in your imagination. As if this light were a representation of God's love for you. Let this divine light gently caress your skin, warm your body, cover every inch of you, just as God's love embraces you now. Let this light and love fill you with warmth and comfort, knowing that this light is a tangible expression of God's boundless love for you. Rest in the light and the love and breathe. With your next breath, imagine that this divine light of God rises up your spine as you inhale. Then imagine the light traveling down your spine as you exhale. Now repeat this practice. Inhaling, allowing the divine light to rise up your spine, slowly inching its way from tailbone to head. As you exhale, imagine that light traveling down your spine in reverse, breathing out. The light goes from the top of your head to the bottom of your tailbone. Now follow this pattern of inhaling the imagined light up your spine and exhaling that light down your spine. Repeat this for several breaths and notice any sensations. Inhale the light travels up the spine. Exhale the light travels down the spine. God's radiant light fills you. God's radiant light and energy flows through you, nourishes and restores you. Pause here and feel the goodness of God. Notice how the light sinks with your breath. Notice how the imagined light saturates every cell of your being. You see it, you sense it, you feel it, you welcome it. God's energy is flowing brighter and bolder, nourishing and restoring you as you breathe. As you welcome God's light, as you feel immersed in it, notice a sense of peace and restoration fill you too. As you rest in God's light, listen to this passage from John chapter 9 in the message. Simply rest in the light and listen to these words. Walking down the street, Jesus saw a man blind from birth. His disciples asked, Rabbi, who sinned? This man or his parents, causing him to be born blind? Jesus said, You're asking the wrong question. You're looking for someone to blame. There is no such cause-effect here. Look instead for what God can do. We need to be energetically at work for the one who sent me here, working while the sun shines. When night falls, the workday is over. For as long as I am in the world, there is plenty of light. I am the world's light. He said this and then spit in the dust, made a clay paste with the saliva, rubbed the paste on the blind man's eyes, and said, Go, wash at the pool of Siloam. The man went and washed and saw. Your own energy being awakened, sensed, noticed. Take a moment and reflect on a time in your life when you experienced God's miraculous touch, like the blind man seeing again. This event may not feel quite as miraculous for you, but surely there's an encounter, a moment, a situation in your life that has felt divinely guided, a miracle of sorts that you've seen, heard of, or experienced. Take a moment to bring this memory to the light. Let yourself reawaken the memory, the emotions, the sensations of God's healing touch, the awe, the gratitude, the joy or the peace that you may have felt in your own life when this miraculous moment occurred. If you think of more than one moment, reflect on each of them one by one, as if you're watching a movie of your life. If you're struggling to recall a miraculous moment in your own life, give thanks for the blind man who saw because of Jesus' touch. God's miraculous work is here. God's miraculous work, Jesus' healing touch. God's radiant light and love are pouring upon you, shaping your life in this moment of rest and in the fullness of your days. Say to yourself, God's light is within me, and God's miraculous work is always around me. God's light is within me, and God's miraculous work is always around me. Return your awareness to your spine. Inhale from the base of your tailbone to the top of your head, welcoming God's light. Exhaling, watching that light travel from the top of your head to the base of your tailbone. Inhale the light up the spine. Inhale the light down the spine. God's energy is upon you, within you, flowing through you, nourishing and restoring you. Stay as long as you wish in your recline posture, following this light up your spine with the inhale, down your spine with the exhale. I'll close us in prayer and invite you to continue resting in God's radiant light as long as you wish. God, thank you for your light, for allowing us to rest in it, to receive it, to welcome it. May we notice your light clearly in our memories, in our miraculous moments, in our bodies, and in our everyday lives. Help us see your miracles and reflect your light to those we encounter today. Fill us, Lord, with your light, so that our lights may shine bright because of you. Restore our energy, our peace, and our presence with you now. In your holy name we pray. Amen. Take your time resting in the radiant light of God. When you're ready to return to your day, slowly roll off to your side, rise up, take a deep breath, and shine, my friends. Shine. Thank you for exploring the gift of God's peace with me and resting in God's light today so that you can renew your own energy. I'd love to connect with you beyond this time.
