Hi, I'm Whitney R. Simpson, and you're listening to Exploring Peace Meditations. Take a few moments to settle in and place your phone on Do Not Disturb. No matter where you may find yourself, pause your busy day with a dose of peace and calm for your breath, body, and spirit, as we seek to explore the peace God offers us each and every day. Today's meditation engages with the practice of Lexio Divina, the ancient practice of listening through God's Word. Today's passage is short, so there will be a good bit of quiet for listening. As you hear the passage read the first time, just listen. Isaiah chapter fifty-seven, verse nineteen. Peace, peace to the far and the near, says the Lord, and I will heal them. This time, consider a word, a phrase, or even an image that stands out to you. What do you notice? What draws your attention? What do you hear, see, or sense? What longings do you have as you hear these words? Peace, peace to the far and the near, says the Lord, and I will heal them. Reflect on God's word in the quiet. Respond to what you're noticing. Respond to how these words make you feel today, in this moment. Is there an invitation for you? Is there an invitation for your body? In the quiet, tell God what you may be hearing or what you may be sensing. Peace, peace to the far and the near, says the Lord, and I will heal them. Respond to God in the quiet. Listen to the passage again. And this time rest in God's Word. Rest in what you may have heard, noticed, seen, imagined. Receive any clarity, stillness, insight, or imagery that God has offered you in this time of listening. Give God thanks and simply rest in these words. Peace, peace to the far and the near, says the Lord, and I will heal them. And ask for your healing touch today. Near and far. In your name we pray. Amen.
