Whitney:

Hi, this is Whitney and you're listening to Exploring Peace Meditations. Today's meditation is a moving meditation. Where I live, this week is beautiful, the weather has been perfect and it's a great time of year to get outside and wonder. So today I'm going to invite you into a walking meditation. Whether you're walking outdoors, in your neighborhood or inside, it's possible to wonder, to notice and be curious about the world around you. I'd like to start us with this quote from Saint Brendan of Burr If you become Christ's, you will stumble upon wonder, upon wonder, and every one of them true. I invite you to take a few deep breaths and stretch, reach, touch your toes, move your body in some way to prepare for this walking meditation and, when you're ready, walk at your pace. But the invitation today is to walk with wonder, to discover wonder all around you.

Whitney:

As you know that wonder is both a noun and a verb. As a noun, we consider the word wonder as a feeling of surprise mingled with admiration, caused by something beautiful, unexpected, unfamiliar or inexplicable. As a verb, wonder is a desire to be curious, to know more about something. I wonder today that as you tap into that curiosity, that kind of wonder if you might notice more wonder around you, what do you see that is beautiful, unexpected or unfamiliar? I'll take a moment now, as we're beginning our walk, to remind you that you can always connect with this community of wondering peace seekers at exploringpeacecom slash community. You can find me, my books and other resources at WhitneyRSimpsoncom. I'll be prompting you as we begin with a few embodied noticings, things you might want to pay attention to. I'll offer you a blessing and then the music is here to companion you in your wonder. If the music fades and you're still walking, wonder in silence. I'm glad you're here exploring the gift of God's peace.

Whitney:

Take a full breath in through your nose and a long breath out. Notice as you've begun your movement. Are there any sticky spots within yourself today? Any part of you that feels a little tight or some discomfort there might be, wonder as to what your body is telling you or you may know perfectly. Will Be kind to yourself as you move and breathe. Feel your feet upon the earth. See if you can go slow enough to let one foot completely connect with the ground before the other foot places itself on the earth.

Whitney:

Be mindful with each foot lifting and lowering. Find your pace quick or slow, but remain mindful of the feet connecting with the earth, with gratitude for the groundedness of your body. Open your eyes and notice. What do you see, what do you hear, what do you smell? What do you feel as you walk today, engage not only your senses but also the gift of wonder. What does God want you to discover in your wondering today? Creator, god, thank you for the gift of movement, of breath, of curiosity and wonder in our lives. Help us to discover wonder today as we ponder, pray and move with you. In your holy name we pray Amen. Enjoy your wondering as you walk.

Whitney:

Until next time, maybe Peace be with you.
