Breath Prayer: Receive
Show Notes Transcript

Ever find yourself in a situation where you needed that little extra strength to carry you through? I, Whitney, have been there and found solace in a practice called breath prayer. Engaging your breath to connect with the divine, this practice has been my rock in rocky times, and a constant companion in everyday life. In this special episode, you are invited to step into a place of openness, using our breath to connect with God.

Let's journey together in this peaceful session, inhaling deeply, and exhaling out a plea to fully receive God. Creating a gentle rhythm, we harmonize with the divine, enriching our connection with God. As we breathe in the name of God, Trinity in this case, our posture remains a constant reminder of our openness to God's presence. Before we complete our session, we will wrap up with a prayer of gratitude, aiming to extend this awareness beyond our meditation time. Until we meet again, I wish you God's peace and invite you to connect with us at exploringpeacecom slash community and also find me at WhitneyRSimpsoncom.

Speaker 1:

Hi, this is Whitney. You're listening to Exploring Peace Meditations. One of my favorite ways to pray is breath prayer. Breath prayer met me in a time of crisis. It also meets me in my everyday life. I'd like to invite you to find a seated posture in which you can take a full, deep breath. Your spine is long, your shoulders are back. Invite your eyes to close or gaze upon something in your room and allow your palms to be open and upward on your lap or thighs. Invite your body into this receiving posture, this open posture to connect with God using the gift of your breath.

Speaker 1:

Now inhale deeply yet gently, through your nose, deep into your belly. Hold this breath for a moment and then release gently through either your nose or your mouth. Your exhale is really important in the relaxation process. See if you can lengthen that exhale and feel your body relax and release. Repeat this at your pace, deeply yet gently, inhaling through your nose. Hold briefly, gently. Exhale completely and fully through your nose or mouth. Feel your body release and relax.

Speaker 1:

Repeat this practice as you listen to these words from Matthew 1040 in the common English Bible those who receive you are also receiving me, and those who receive me are receiving the one who sent me. On your next inhalation, breathe in a name for God. I'm going to breathe in Trinity today, god as Father, son and Spirit. Inhale Trinity or another name that feels right for you today. Repeat that name of God on the next few breaths, inhaling fully yet gently breathing in God's name. On your next exhalation, open yourself up to receive God by offering these words. Allow me to fully receive you. Allow me to fully receive you. Connect your prayer, inhaling your name of God. Allow me to fully receive you In the next few moments of quiet.

Speaker 1:

Practice your breath work. As you practice your breath prayer. The words may shift, they may fall away. Allow your posture to remind you that you are open and receptive to God's presence today. Allow your posture to remind you that you are open and receptive to God's presence today. Allow your posture to remind you that you are open and receptive to God's presence today. Create your God. Thank you for sending the gift of Jesus into our lives. Help us to receive your presence Beyond this breath prayer, beyond this meditation. Draw us close to you as we inhale and exhale. Remind us of your nearness each day. In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, we pray Amen. Thank you for exploring the gift of God's peace with me.
